The parametric bookcase
Today I’m going to tell you about a furniture decoration that is often undervalued but is essential instead for the living space characterization: the bookcase – tv stand
There can be no denying that nowadays the television is playing an important role in our free time and relax moments, therefore is something essential. For this reason I think we need to find the right place and space for it and take the opportunity to enhance the wall where we put it.
Just to be clear, I do not want to say that the TV must become the star of our living room but I simply think that considering TV marginal shouldn’t be the excuse to ignore this space of the house.
To be honest I’m kind of tired of all the small cabinets that are similar to the ones we can find in the bathroom. There are of course some exception but if it is possible I would prefer to think about something else..
In particular, the bookcase I would like to talk about has been made for a young and dynamic couple who already have a lot of books and the prevision to buy some other in the future. So, a big bookcase that could store all of them was a prerequisite.
Together with Francesca (I’ve already told about her in some of my previous posts. www.francescagaragnani.it) we studied an ad hoc solution for a bookcase that occupies the whole wall and becomes the kicker of the living room.
The initial idea was to create something dynamic and unusual which break the mold and gives you the impression to see something different based on your point of view.
We hence created a parametric element that it is very difficult for me to explain; we imagined the front part of the bookcase to be like a malleable surface
with some convex and concave areas.
I think at this stage that a picture can helps you to better understand it.
Well, I have to say that seeing it live the effect is really incredible. Depending on your point of view the effect you can see and the perception you can feel is always different.
It is amazing if I do say so myself.
All has been made with planed oak strips subsequently oiled. We decided to keep the natural wood color because more appropriate to give the feeling of the movement.
I really hope you enjoyed this article and I hope you like our amazing bookcase.
Let me know what you think.
See you soon!
